All lots of Sanofi Pasteur H1N1 vaccine in prefilled syringes should be administered by February 15 because of concerns over reduced potency, the CDC reported on Wednesday.

Case 40-2009 — A 29-Year-Old Man with Fever and Respiratory Failure

A 29-year-old man presented with fever and respiratory distress. He had fever, a nonproductive cough, and myalgias. On admission to this hospital, he was hypoxemic. Respiratory failure, renal failure, and hypotension developed.

Some Intranasal H1N1 Vaccine Recalled over Potency Concerns
MedImmune is recalling 13 lots — some 4.7 million doses — of its intranasal 2009 H1N1 vaccine over concerns that the vaccine may lose potency as it sits on the shelf, according to the company.
