Some Intranasal H1N1 Vaccine Recalled over Potency Concerns
MedImmune is recalling 13 lots — some 4.7 million doses — of its intranasal 2009 H1N1 vaccine over concerns that the vaccine may lose potency as it sits on the shelf, according to the company.
MedImmune notes that “the slight decrease in potency should not affect how the vaccine works.” Revaccination is not necessary, but healthcare providers should return any unused doses from the recalled lots. (The lot numbers are listed in the manufacturer’s recall information below.)
Earlier in December, Sanofi Pasteur recalled several lots of its injectable H1N1 vaccine over similar concerns.
